The Balearic Islands - Mallorca (Majorca), Ibiza and Menorca - have been one of the most popular beach destinations in Europe since the 1950's. Beautiful gentle climate, many and more clean beaches, long bathing season, excellent tourist infrastructure attract visitors from all over the world.
The largest of the Balearic Islands, Mallorca, offers many memorable resorts: lively Magaluf caters to young partygoers; green Santa Ponsa draws families yearning for calm and quiet; Alcúdia allows visitors to combine sightseeing with beach activities; Puerto Pollensa (Port de Pollença) sways wealthy vacationers in need of luxury and pampering.
You are free to choose not only the resort, but the type of accommodation that suits you: there are plenty of standard hotel rooms on Mallorca, but they pale in comparison with spacious apartments and luxurious villas available for short-term rent.
Party animals and electronic music lovers can combine beachcombing and partying by renting an apartment on sunny Ibiza, rightfully known as the clubbing capital of the world. The clubbing season stretches from June to September, during which all respected clubs - such as Pacha, Amnesia, Space, Privilege - invite star DJs and famous producers to make an appearance.
Menorca may be shadowed by fame of its two siblings, but it does not lack for their striking beauty nor excellent accommodation choices. The season lasts from April to November, yet prices of hotels and apartment rentals are lower than on Ibiza or Mallorca. Menorca is also renowned for its many archaeological sites, left by a mystery civilization that perished over 5 thousand years ago.
