Archaeologists estimate that a settlement called Trepucó was founded in 1400 BC and abandoned in the 2nd century BC after Romans came to Menorca. Trepucó is the largest of all ancient settlements on Menorca, occupying the total area of more than 5 000 square meters.
The settlement has four towers, out of which the central one is best-preserved. It has several annexes that served mostly civilian purposes and allowed the inhabitants of Trepucó to access the tower with no delay at any time.
Despite the massive interest of visitors of Menorca that surrounds the Trepucó talayots, the main sight of this ancient place is its famous Trepucó taula.
Trepucó is located several kilometres away from Maó in the direction of Sant LluÃs. Trepucó is free to visit and is open year-round.
