Getting there

If you are travelling from the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, the easiest and by far the only way to get to Barcelona is by plane. There are a bunch of direct flights from New York operated by American Airlines, Delta Airlines and Iberia. In Canada, direct flights from Toronto to Barcelona are provided by Air Canada and Air Transat (seasonally). There are countless options for flights with stopovers, and in most cases they are cheaper (sometimes much cheaper), albeit longer than direct flights.

Economy ticket prices range from $600 to $1500 depending on how and when you buy your ticket. Popular websites specializing in cheap airfares would often offer you a better price range.

The main airport of Barcelona is El Prat, from where it is rather easy to get to the city. You can take an Aerobús bus (5,90€ one way) or a commuter train RENFE that both stop at Plaça de Catalunya right in the centre of Barcelona. Of course, if you rented apartments in Barcelona or booked a hotel room, only a taxi or an airport transfer can take you there directly. Airports Taxi Transfers offers affordable personalized services to and from Barcelona airport, as well as other European cities.
